About
Alan Erdmann, MD obtained a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry, cum laude, at Brigham Young University and a Doctor of Medicine at Duke University Medical School in Durham, North Carolina. He also completed an internal medicine residency and was the assistant chief resident at Duke University. Additionally, he completed a gastroenterology fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He specializes in gastroenterology and hepatology and speaks fluent English and Polish.
Dr. Erdmann decided to pursue a career in medicine because he enjoys being around people and helping improve their quality of life. He takes pride in making unfamiliar medical conditions more understandable. Dr. Erdman’s primary medical interests are inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), liver diseases (cirrhosis and hepatitis), esophageal disorders (difficulty swallowing, eosinophilic esophagitis, Barrett’s esophagus), and colon cancer screening.
When he is not in the clinic, Dr. Erdmann enjoys spending time with his wife and playing board games with their four children. He also loves being outdoors, playing the bagpipes, eating all things BBQ (especially brisket and North Carolina pulled pork), and watching Newcastle United soccer.
