About
Dr. Kawa is a native of Utah, raised in Davis County. He graduated from the University of Utah in Materials Science and Engineering. Dr. Kawa received his medical degree from Saint Louis University and later completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Utah. He completed a gastroenterology fellowship and an additional fellowship in advanced endoscopy at University Hospitals Case Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Kawa has a particular interest in pancreaticobiliary disease, Barrett’s esophagus, and GI malignancies. He is trained in all aspects of endoscopy including ERCP, EUS, EMR and Barrett’s ablation. He also has significant experience in resection of large polyps, including spending time in Japan learning specialized techniques pioneered in Asia.
Dr. Kawa and his wife, Kari, have 4 children. They enjoy spending time at Bear Lake, family bike rides and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals.
